Described by MTV as "the most prominent nightlife photographer in America," Kirill Was Here has fast become as recognizable as the celebrities that he shoots. Just two years removed from sneaking into parties, New York-based Kirill is now a fixture at the most high-profile events in the world and at the most recognizable nightclubs.
Voted Paper Magazine's 2011 Nightlife Photographer of the Year, Kirill is called upon by music heavyweights LMFAO, Travie McCoy, Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, A-Trak, and Chromeo to shoot their concerts and private events. Garnering over two million monthly views, his eponymous website, kirillwashere.com, takes fans inside the velvet ropes to witness debauchery at festivals, concerts, nightclubs, and events from around the world.
Drawing attention from nightclubs typically reserved for international deejays, Kirill is a regular at LIV (Miami), Marquee (Las Vegas), MIXX (Atlantic City) and LAVO (New York). Indeed, Kirill's demand extends far beyond nightclubs as ClearChannel has hired him to shoot Jingle Ball and MTV secured him to photograph Ultra Music Festival. Yves Saint Laurent, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Red Bull, Hennessy, Belvedere, and Casio, too, regularly look to Kirill to shoot their events.
His work has been featured in a bevy of publications including Vanity Fair, Elle, Us Weekly, Glamour, FHM (UK), Elekro Magazine, In Touch, XXL, New York Post, and New York Daily News.
